A 13 year-old slave named Isabel and her sister Ruth were supposed to be free but the sisters have been sold to the Locktons living in New York City. With the Revolutionary War beginning Isabel is asked to spy on her new owners, who know details of England’s plans for invasion of the city. Grades 5-8.
